Samir Riad was born in Cairo, Egypt and earned his bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the HIT Institute of Technology in Helwan, Egypt. His passion for math and physics was only surpassed by his passion for playing Bridge. He would very often stay up all night playing Bridge with his friends.
Over the years, he taught many friends how to play the game and was often amazed at how quickly their intimidation diminished and how enthusiatic they became. It was because of this that Samir felt so driven to write these books. His unique teaching method is simple and he hopes it will bring many more people into the incredibly enjoyable world of Bridge playing.
Samir moved to California in 1985 and became a citizen in 1990. He has owned a chain of wireless cellular phone stores in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 20 years and currently lives with his wife and children in San Jose, California.
